TremendousTHANKS to Our Circle of Friends
Because of Friends…
my daughter realized she’s not the only person who stutters
I’ve learned that being vulnerable is a way to connect with others
my family found a community
I met parents who have the same questions
I found people who feel like home
I’ve met some of the best people I know
I feel a real sense of purpose
I know that my kids are going to be okay
I learned it’s more important for my son to speak freely than to speak fluently
I learned that there are parents who stutter, not just kids
From a Parent
Because of Friends, our daughter is much more confident about her stutter and realizes that stuttering is not abnormal. It’s just part of who she is, just like her brown curly hair, brown eyes, and wonderful personality.
— Anthony, parent of a teen who stutters
Hear Ben talk about why your support matters
“I work with a lot of kids and families who stutter, and not all of them can afford to come to something like this”
This year, participants joined us from 15 countries across 6 continents
From our executive director
A Note from Caryn
There is a sense of community that forms at every Friends event. Kids find one another, conversations begin, teens step into leadership roles, and families realize they are not alone. As one parent shared, “Something shifted for my child at Friends. They stood a little taller. They spoke a little freer. They felt seen.” Moments like this are the heart of Friends, and your support helps make them possible.
In 2025 your generosity helped us award more than $41,000 in financial aid, hold our annual 3-day convention, host 6 regional one-day events, facilitate more than 50 virtual groups, and train 232 speech language pathologists and graduate students. Altogether, this year alone, Friends programming impacted the lives of more than 800 individuals from 38 states and 15 countries.
While we still feel the absence of our late co-founder, Lee Caggiano, her vision remains at the heart of everything we do. As we look ahead, we are focused on reaching more families, fostering local community in even more cities and states, and expanding scholarships so that cost never prevents a family from attending Friends.
This work would not be possible without you. Thank you for making this all possible, and helping us make a difference in the lives of young people who stutter.
With gratitude,
Caryn Herring, PhD, CCC-SLP

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, Friends is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of US law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your US taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
Where can I mail a check?
You can mail a check to Friends, 278 Shady Brook Drive, Langhorne, PA 19047 and we will mail you a donation receipt to the return address specified on the envelope. You are also welcome to leave a note with the best method for sending you a receipt. Please make your check payable to Friends.
What are the benefits of monthly donations?
Gifting us a recurring donation is an important way to invest in the stability of Friends and our programs. A weekly, monthly, or even annual donation is a special gift that supports Friends in the long term.
How will the funds be used?
All funds go towards supporting our mission and programs, including our in-person three-day annual convention, regional one-day events, and our free monthly virtual groups for children, teens, young adults, and parents. Your donation will help us instill a sense of empowerment, foster confidence and self-esteem, and create an environment where feelings of isolation disappear.
Can I dedicate my donation in honor or memory of someone?
Yes! You can dedicate your gift to celebrate or remember someone special. Simply click “Dedicate My Donation” and include their name. If you would like, we can also notify the honoree or their family about your gift. Write to us at friends@friendswhostutter.org and we will be sure to get your message to them.
What does “matching gifts up to $25,000” mean?
A generous supporter has pledged to match every dollar you give, up to a total of $25,000. That means your $50 becomes $100, your $250 becomes $500, and so on, doubling your impact for young people who stutter and their families.
What happens once the $25,000 matching goal is met?
Once the match is fulfilled, all additional donations will still directly support Friends’ programs and community year-round. They just won’t be doubled.
Reaching the match is a huge milestone. It helps us raise critical funds early in the campaign. But every gift afterward continues to fuel life-changing support for young people who stutter.
