Did you know your gift fuels evidenced-based personal growth?

At our conventions, young people who stutter build strong relationships and a bolstering sense of community

That’s what your donation sponsors

Your support makes it possible to…

reduce isolation,
normalize stuttering,
and show children they are
wonderful as they are

Why? Because hearing & sharing personal stories helps our Friends accept both self and others

We need to open our doors even wider, because belonging shouldn’t depend on money.

Hear from Naomi Hertsberg-Rodgers on how your support can keep the magic of community alive.

About Us

Friends is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and education to young people who stutter, their families, and professionals. We believe that every child, teen, and adult who stutters deserves to live in a world where they feel accepted and are empowered to communicate whenever, wherever, and however they choose.

Together we work towards:

  • building confidence and advocacy skills
  • learning about stuttering while educating friends, family, and colleagues
  • cultivating supportive community and sharing experiences
  • training the next generation of therapists with the help of stuttering experts, researchers, and adults who stutter

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, Friends is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of US law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your US taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.

Where can I mail a check?

You can mail a check to Friends, 278 Shady Brook Drive, Langhorne, PA 19047 and we will mail you a donation receipt to the return address specified on the envelope. You are also welcome to leave a note with the best method for sending you a receipt. Please make your check payable to Friends.

What are the benefits of monthly donations?

Gifting us a recurring donation is an important way to invest in the stability of the Friends scholarship fund. A weekly, monthly, or even annual donation is a special gift that supports the Friends community in the long term.

How will the funds be used?

Every dollar raised will go towards scholarships. Your donation will help us instill a sense of empowerment, foster confidence and self-esteem, and create an environment where feelings of isolation disappear. We can’t thank you enough.

Can I dedicate my donation in honor or memory of someone?

Yes! You can dedicate your gift to celebrate or remember someone special. Simply click “Dedicate My Donation” and include their name. If you would like, we can also notify the honoree or their family about your gift. Write to us at friends@friendswhostutter.org and we will be sure to get your message to them.

What does “matching gifts up to $20,000” mean?

Generous supporters have pledged to match every dollar you give, up to a total of $20,000. That means your $50 becomes $100, your $250 becomes $500, and so on, doubling your impact for young people who stutter and their families.

What happens once the $20,000 matching goal is met?

Once the match is fulfilled, all additional donations will still directly support Friends’ scholarships. They just won’t be doubled.

Reaching the match is a huge milestone. It helps us raise critical funds early in the campaign. But every gift afterward continues to remove financial barriers to life-changing support for young people who stutter.
